///////////////////////////////////////////////////

On behalf of everyone affiliated with AIDS Patient Care and STDs and AIDS Research and Human Retroviruses, we express our sincere condolences to those affected by the crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17. A tragedy of such proportion is unfathomable, but learning that friends and colleagues in the AIDS community were on board only deepens what was already an unimaginable loss.

The individuals on board MH17 en route to the International AIDS Conference carried with them a universal mission that is shared by all of us: to find better treatments for and eventually cure and prevent HIV/AIDS. The loss of those who were dedicated to our cause is devastating and something that will not easily be recovered from.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, colleagues, and friends of everyone affected by this tragedy.

With our deepest condolences,
