Short-Cycle Four-Day ARV Regimen for HIV Shows Efficacy in Maintaining Viral Suppression
A maintenance regimen for HIV treatment that reduces the regimen of antiretroviral (ARV) therapy to 4 days a week demonstrates efficacy in sustaining viral suppression after 48 weeks.
With HIV patients facing lifelong therapy regimens, ongoing efforts are focusing on strategies for reducing long-term cumulative toxicity of anti-retroviral (ARV) drugs, and encouraging results have been shown in a previous study reducing treatment from 7 days per week to 5 days per week, and sometimes even 4 or less (Liebowitch J, et al. FASEB J. June 2015 29:2223-4).
